Our members come from a wide range of areas, from Chichester to New Forest, from Portsmouth to Alton. Our members are experienced instrumentalist or professional musicians, their efforts and experiences are essential asset to the ensemble and bring lots of energy to build up the orchestra.

Ka Wai is a versatile musician, who is a clarinettist, conductor, educator and woodwinds technician. Ka Wai graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) with a Masters Degree in clarinet performance who was under the tutelage of Alison Lambert and the Eb clarinet expert - John Cooper. Ka Wai has performed in clarinet master classes given by Angela Malsbury, Leslie Craven and Robert Plane. Ka Wai also studied clarinet with Alison Waller, John Koljonen, Martin CHOY and PAK Chit-Man. Maestro CHENG Tan is one of the influential mentors to Ka Wai on both choral and orchestral conducting, furthermore, she participated Wind Band and Orchestral conducting courses at the Canford Summer School of Music with conductors; Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Dr. Timothy Reynish MBE, Philip Schott and Mark Heron.
Ka Wai has experience to conducting orchestras and coaching ensembles from elementary level to professional standards. She was assistant conductor and orchestral manager of the Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra. While she was studied at Edinburgh Napier University, she was conductor of the Edinburgh Napier University Wind Orchestra and deputy conductor and clarinettist of the Edinburgh Concert Band. Ka Wai grew up in Hong Kong and worked as instrumental tutor for many years and was former principal clarinettist for Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Symphonic Band, and Eb Clarinettist for the Ponte Orchestra and Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra.
As a clarinettist, Ka Wai has invited to give world premieres for Hong Kong composers; LEE Tak Kwan - ‘Reminiscence’ (2004), LEE Kei Kei - ‘Duet for Clarinet and Piano’(2004), Sierra Tse - ‘Ghost Marching III – Sorrow’ (2007) and Shirley Ma - ‘Hiding Among the Bushes’ for Clarinet, Piano and Percussion (2012); ‘A White Rose’ for Clarinet, Soprano and Piano (2014). In 2002, she was invited to be clarinet section coach and clarinet & saxophone tutor for the Hong Kong Winds Academy.
Ka Wai settled in the UK in 2016, she runs a home workshop for musical instrument repairs, teaching clarinet, music theory and history and performing. She was guest conductor of the Gosport Solent Brass and guest percussionist. Volunteering as clarinettist for the Royal Navy Volunteer Band Association - Royal Navy HMS Collingwood Volunteer Band and HMS Nelson, helping the community to keep live music going.
Ka Wai partnered with pianist Kate Burrows who perform recitals, they have performed at Portsmouth Festivities (now called Ports Fest) and private functions. They enjoy making music, sharing thoughts about all kind of matter as well as keen to promote chamber music to keep live music going in the community.
